Arrival

The Berliner Ringtheater is located in the Neue Zukunft area. The nearest accessible station is Treptower Park S-Bahn station, about 800 meters away. We recommend using the exit An den Treptowers and Hoffmannstrasse. You will need to cross the Elsenbrücke bridge, which may be noisy due to traffic. The road is asphalted.

Alternatively, you can reach the theatre from Ostkreuz S-Bahn station, about 1 km away, or take bus 347 or 194 to the Markgrafendamm bus stop and walk 700 meters. The path through the Neue Zukunft area is uneven and not asphalted, with long cobblestone paths.

Where is the Ringtheater located on the area of Zukunft?

From the entrance of the area to the Berliner Ringtheater there are poster displays showing the way. The Berliner Ringtheater is located after the bar on the left from the concert hall and the open air cinema. Between the bar and the Ringtheater is a beer garden with tables and benches. After the theatre gate, there is a 1 cm high threshold and an aluminum ramp.

A banner on the fence shows where the Berliner Ringtheater is located. Currently, there is no tactile guidance system which helps show the way to Berliner Ringtheater.

Road description for blind and visually impaired persons

At Treptower Park you will follow the guidance system to the stairs and go down the stairs. There are 29 steps. Once at the bottom, you will have four exits. To your left, there are two exits leading toward Treptower Park, while to your right, you’ll find two exits towards the street: Elsenstraße/ Puschkinalle and An Treptowers/ Hoffmannstraße. Choose the street direction. Please be cautious, as the road is filled with obstacles and barriers, such as rubbish bins and road beacons.

If you exit via Elsenstraße/Puschkinallee, walk straight ahead for about 55 steps. On your right will be bicycle stands and a rubbish bin. You’ll then come to a set of stairs. Descend 15 steps; the bend goes to the right, leading you to Elsenstraße. Walk about 327 steps straight ahead to cross Elsenbridge over the River Spree.

If you take the An den Treptowers/Hoffmannstraße exit, climb the stairs for about 55 steps, and then descend 8 steps. Walk straight ahead for 24 steps. A bus stop and rubbish bin will be on your right. The path will bend to the right, placing you on Elsenstraße. Walk straight ahead for about 236 steps until you reach Elsenbridge over the River Spree.

Cycle path and pedestrian path become separated just before you enter the bridge. You keep to the right and follow the bend to the right.

The ground starts to change. Initially, it will be concrete block ground, followed by a short section of metal parts, then stone slabs. Continue straight over the stone slabs for about 270 steps. the ground will change again. You will first encounter the metal parts briefly, followed by concrete block ground, and finally asphalt. the cycle and pedestrian paths rejoin. After approximately 100 steps, you will reach a set of traffic lights. Attention: there is a short tunnel just before the traffic lights.

Please note that the traffic lights are often broken. They have a foot guidance system, but the knocking noise may not stop, and there may not be a beep when the button is pressed.

After crossing the road and turning right onto Alt-Stralau Straße, continue walking straight ahead for about 60 steps. You will pass Club Renate on your left, with a busy road on your right. On your left, you will come to a wide iron gate, which marks the entrance to the Neue Zukunft site.

You go inside. The ground here is uneven, composed of cobblestones, so take caution—especially in rainy weather, as there may be large puddles. Walk straight for about 90 steps. The ground will then shift to large, smooth slabs. There is a slight difference in height between the individual slabs. Continue walking for 20 more steps, where you’ll find a bar and beer garden with benches and tables on your left. Follow the bend to the right, where the ground will change again to asphalt. You will walk straight for another 18 steps and reach the iron gates to the Berliner Ringtheater. As you enter, the ground will change back to cobblestones. Walk straight ahead for about 12 steps to reach the entrance door of the Berliner Ringtheater.

Entries

The theatre is located on the first floor and the entrance itself is stepless and has a mobile ramp. Access to the auditorium is usually via the foyer and has a ramp. The doors are wide enough for wheelchairs. The foyer is located on the left-hand side of the performance space and there is a bar.

Bathrooms

There are no accessible toilets directly on the theatre premises. However, there is one accessible toilet in an outdoor shed across the Ringtheater and two bathrooms with ramps are available in nearby buildings: one in the concert hall, about 50 meters from the Berliner Ringtheater and another in the bar, approximately 80 meters away. There is also a half outdoor accessible toilet across the yard in front of the theatre.

The bathroom of the concert hall has two steps that are 38 cm high, but the entrance is accessible with a folding aluminum ramp. The door to the cinema is 78 cm wide, and the bathroom entrance is 81 cm wide, with a 2.5 cm high edge. The widest cabin door is 85 cm, and a grab rail is available on the right side. The other cabin doors are 71 cm wide, but they do not have grab rails.

The other bathroom is in the bar of Neue Zukunft. It is accessible through the entrance which is 85 cm wide with two kerb ramps, each 10 cm high. There are two bathrooms with entrance doors 82 cm wide. One bathroom has both standing and sitting toilets, with the cabin doors measuring 71 cm. The other bathroom only has sitting toilets, and the widest cabin door is 85 cm, though without grab rails. There is no emergency button and the sink is on the outside of the cabins.

All bathrooms are gender-neutral. However, we must note that the cleanliness of these bathrooms may be inconsistent, as they are shared spaces used for multiple public events held on the Neue Zukunft premises.

Parking

There is a parking spot for people with reduced mobility next to the concert hall on the grounds of the Neue Zukunft. It is located approximately halfway between the main entrance and the Berliner Ringtheater. It is not possible to drive directly in front of the theatre.

Notes on the ground condition

The grounds are unevenly paved. It is therefore not ideal for wheelchair users and difficult to access for people with visual impairments. We are currently looking into possible improvements.

During the event, people can move freely around the room and the theatre can be left and re-entered at any time. The lights are not completely switched off at some events.
