The Hole Story
The Hole Story is a queer dance solo that explores what pornography doesn’t show: failure, humour and the messy search for connection.
This performance turns pornographic imagery back on itself, questioning how we see bodies, power and desire. Through movement, projection and spoken word, Iacopo Loliva builds a post-pornographic stage where the desired body becomes both protest and poetry.
Inspired by Annie Sprinkle’s groundbreaking Public Cervix Announcement, in which she exposed her cervix to the audience in the 1990s, this piece grounds itself in vulnerability and pleasure, with a central focus: the anus.
Here, the butthole is offered not for shock, but as a space of vulnerability, humour and radical honesty. Claiming the ugly, the undesirable and the abject as power, The Hole Story confronts the hierarchies mainstream porn enforces. Which bodies are valued, which desires are rewarded, and most fundamentally: what gets to be considered beautiful and attractive?
What was once hidden behind closed doors now takes center stage. Pornography becomes a collective experience and intimacy a political act. Continuing the work of Between Heart and Hole, which sold-out at Frascati in Amsterdam in 2025, The Hole Story is an invitation to question not only porn, but how we love and protect ourselves. It gently asks the audience to sit with discomfort and maybe see a reflection of themselves in it.

The Hole Story ist ein queeres Tanzsolo über das, was Pornografie nicht zeigt: Scheitern, Humor und die ungeordnete Suche nach Verbindung.
Die Performance richtet pornografische Bilder gegen sich selbst und hinterfragt, wie wir Körper, Macht und Begehren betrachten. Zwischen Bewegung, Projektionen und gesprochenem Wort entwirft Iacopo Loliva eine post-pornografische Bühne, auf der der begehrte Körper zugleich zu Protest und Poesie wird.
Inspiriert ist das Stück von Annie Sprinkles bahnbrechendem Public Cervix Announcement, in dem sie in den 1990er Jahren dem Publikum ihren Gebärmutterhals zeigte. Von dort aus verankert sich die Performance in Verletzlichkeit und Lust. Ihr Fokus: der Anus.
Der Anus wird hier nicht als Schockeffekt ausgestellt, sondern als Ort der Verletzlichkeit, des Humors und radikaler Ehrlichkeit. Indem The Hole Story das Hässliche, das Unerwünschte und das Verworfene als Quelle von Stärke beansprucht, setzt sich das Stück mit den Hierarchien auseinander, die Mainstream-Pornografie hervorbringt. Welche Körper gelten als wertvoll, welche Formen des Begehrens werden belohnt und grundlegender noch: Was darf überhaupt als schön und begehrenswert gelten?
Was einst hinter verschlossenen Türen verborgen blieb, rückt nun ins Zentrum. Pornografie wird zu einer kollektiven Erfahrung, Intimität zu einem politischen Akt. In Fortführung von Between Heart and Hole, das 2025 im Frascati in Amsterdam ausverkauft war, lädt The Hole Story dazu ein, nicht nur Pornografie zu hinterfragen, sondern auch die Art und Weise, wie wir lieben und uns selbst schützen. Das Stück bittet das Publikum behutsam, Unbehagen auszuhalten und darin vielleicht auch etwas von sich selbst wiederzuerkennen.
